The Shoosmith family of Northampton were self-taught artists, and regarded their creative work as hobbies to their principal employment in the legal profession. Many of these distinctive watercolour paintings depict landscapes of Northampton and the surrounding areas. A number of paintings depict European locations, including France, Belgium and Germany.
